Groundbreaking for the new lab took place on April 21, 2010.

New Lab Capabilities
  • 100 kip Instron servohydraulic test machine

  • 220 kip MTS servohydraulic test machine

  • 450 kip servohydraulic machine; quasi-static and dynamic rates

  • Pit for hydraulic pipe burst tests with axial flaws

  • Large strongback in pit for 4-point bend pipe tests - 35 foot long frame (future item)

  • Plastic pipe creep testing machine - hydrostatic high temperature pipe testing station

  • Small machine shop area, polishing table, hardness tester and Charpy machine
