Experience Summer Internship for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Atlanta, GA, 2008. Omar Khan interned in the Division of Reactor Safety and Construction Inspection Branch where he was introduced to inspection at the Nuclear Enrichment Facility through Structural Welding and Quality Assurance Inspection. He worked with ASME NQA-1, Nuclear Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and associated Code Cases as well as 10 CFR 50 App. B Quality Assurance Criteria for NPP and Fuel Processing Plants. This work gave him exposure to the Regulatory Framework associated with New Nuclear Power Plant construction. During his internship he was also able to complete the Basic Nuclear Concepts Training Course. His Summer Project was the Use of High Density Polyethylene Piping in Safety Related Applications at NPP. This project consisted of review of relief requests for current NPP Licensees, site visits to operating Nuclear Power Plants and in-depth interviews with NPP Licensees. The final product was a researched and prepared literature review report and presentation for the US NRC on the use of HDPE Piping in ASME SEction III Class 3 safety related applications at NPP as well as a HDPE Inspection Guide. Welding Boot Camp, sponsored by Lincoln Electric, Cleveland, Ohio, December 2007 Workshop mentored by experiences welders where Omar Khan was able to get hands on experience on multiple welding equipmant, processes, consumables and materials. Verizon Wireless Employee, Dublin, Ohio, 2002-2005 Employed with Senior Customer Care and Technical Support where he was recognized and awarded numerous times for monthly, quarterly and annual achievements. He was also selected from over 350 employees to take part in an 8 member Conversion team to convert to a new billing system. |
