Emc2 is a privately owned consulting and applied research firm conducting structural integrity and safety evaluations for the oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Emc2 is seeking individuals with interests in both laboratory based and computational work. Multiple positions are available with a range of experience and advanced degree requirements. Emc2 offers a salary and benefit package commensurate with the job position and the experience of the chosen candidate.

(1) Laboratory Specialist: Candidates for the Laboratory Specialist position should have experience operating, maintaining and repairing electronic and mechanical testing equipment such as MTS and Instron test frames. Experience in hydraulics and electronics is considered a critical requirement for this position. Ability to troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment, design and construct electronic and mechanical systems are two important technical criteria. Ability to interact and work well in a group setting, providing feedback and documentation input will be a necessity. The position will require some travel but will mostly be conducted in Columbus, OH area. Position is full time, salaried with benefits. Demonstrated experience in hands-on applications is more important than specific education, however, applicants will be expected to have completed high school degree and have had post-high school training via military, vocational or college courses in electronics and/or engineering. Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks along with good communication skills in both written and oral methods will be a plus for this opening.

(2) Research Engineer: Candidates for the experimental/computational mechanics Research Engineer position should have proven experience in the mechanical testing of structural materials. Proficiency in commercial finite elements codes is highly desirable. Candidates should have an advanced degree in engineering (Ph.D. preferred) and a strong background in physical metallurgy, both ferritic and non-ferritic materials, welding processes, and experience with computational simulation of welding processes, such as microstructural evolution, residual stress, and distortion. Ability to interact and work well in a group setting, providing feedback and documentation input will be a necessity. The position will require some travel but will mostly be conducted in Columbus, OH area. Position is full time, salaried with benefits. Demonstrated experience in hands-on applications is important. Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks along with good communication skills in both written and oral methods will be a plus for this opening.
