Congratulations to Dr. Suresh Kalyanam who has been appointed by the ASME Section XI Standards Committee as the new chair of the task group on flaw evaluation in high-density polyethylene pipes (TG-FEHDPEP).
Chairs are responsible for leading groups of experts in developing and improving new sections of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
The Task Group on Flaw Evaluation for HDPE Pipe has the responsibility for developing a proposed Section XI Code Case that will include a procedure for the analysis of flaws identified in HDPE piping. The proposed Code Case will develop the methods of fracture mechanics applicable to this material, acceptance criteria, material properties, and the loads to be used in analyses of HDPE piping flaws.
